I don't think growing up we ever realized or understood everything our parents were going through. I think it takes being a parent to fully appreciate it. My kids think I walk on water, but I always hope that when they realize all of my flaws, weaknesses, and insecurities, they will understand that I did my best.

This really hits home since I lost both of my parents, one in 2014 and the other in 2020. There were so many things I was so callous about when I was younger, blaming others for faults that lay within myself. This young woman puts every word so perfectly that I wish I could say now, particularly to my mother. She deserved so much better of me. Love you, mom.
