Please play Motown. Dancing in the Streets by Martha and the Vandellas is a great place to start. I grew up in Michigan and Motown brought together white and black kids at concerts and dances. This upset a lot of the (white) people in power who didn't want white kids listening to "race music." Motown was played on CKLW radio. The studio was in Detroit and the transmitter was in Windsor, Canada so they could blast out 50,000 watts.
